I can't believe I just puked. I always think it will be beneficial to take a multi-vitamin for women and then no more than 3 minutes later do I feel completely ill. Thus, the throw up and why I'll stick to taking gummy multi-vitamins for adults.
This week I've started as a VISTA summer associate at the Garden Project. I feel that I will enjoy working here as far as people and the actual works go. It's a sigh of relief to finally be doing something that I pursued for so long and to not have to feel that irritating itch of want.
Yesterday started at 6:30a and I, with seven others, got sworn in as Americorp VISTA members . Of us eight, 3 went to REACH and 3 went to the Northwestern Initiative, and then 2 to the Garden Project. All are really cool organizations that I would love to be involved with.
Once at GP, three out of nine wore plaid shirts, the ubiquitous urban farming uniform. hehe.
We visited five community gardens and untangled a long hose. Overall, more driving around than I have in the past 5 years (so pretty much ever, I guess). I'll get into the swing of it, hopefully bike some of the commutes.
After work, I dorked out and went to officemax to buy a new binder for all my papers - bright yellow. I get pumped about organization- it makes things feel congealed and simple and somehow plays into this great idea of doing and being. I also got a mini comp notebook for all the note taking & garden planning, etc. A little log book, indeed.
Today I start at the resource center and help open Airport community garden (half of it is already open, we have to stake), one of the gardens I get to follow and look after. staking is measuring out each plot, which you figure out the measurements in advance on graph paper, and hammering in wood stakes to mark it. yup.

I puke, too! Take it with food, is my only advice...
More importantly, congratulations on your first couple days of Americorps! This is so exciting and I love hearing what you've been doing. Keep me posted! Take pictures! YOU RULE!
