ryan eating doughnuts - how embarrassing!

please enjoy this foto of Ryan chowing down on doughnuts, haha. I never ate doughnuts except on Fat Tuesday before moving to Portland (i can stop whenever i want, i swear!). speaking of doughnuts, i've been practicing Ashtanga Yoga once a week for about a month. it's a good yoga to practice because the sets/flows stay the same, but you can practice faster repetitions to to build heat or slower to focus on form, balance, and stretching. not that i have particularly memorized the flows, i hope i will as i continue. i've noticed improvement in my downward dog; i can firmly plant my heels to the mat after a couple warm up ones. overall, that form feels much stronger than when i was practicing yoga before. now, if i could do headstands without the wall for balance and hold a crow pose, that would be awesome! i suppose i'll get there.

snail mail goodies from the family!

much to my delight, i received a care package from the family today! it contained a fine tip pen(.38mm!), hellokitties, slippers, jade bracelet, and make your own kimchee spice! yea yea yea! i have not been able to find anywhere to buy kimchee (& i think i dreamed about it last night)! sadly, at Fubonn, the jar kimchee had MSG and the help-youself bulk kimchee looked to have been sitting around for a questionable time. went to the People's Food Coop yesterday and the jar kimchee there was $8! it looked delicious and had good ingredients, but really. i still heart ELFCO and Michigan's cheaper groceries. People's has a good foods and produce selection and i ate almost a whole container of Julies Organic Sorbet (passion mango).

funny Japanese bootie.

jade bracelet.

as of late, i've been working a remote, freelance job for a company in Virginia. i code e-newsletters and web pages. it's nice to get paid and to focus on learning to write clean and efficient code.
i've also started my Growing Gardens internship and so far it's awesome. right now i'm just organizing spreadsheets and securing locations for meetings. but the people i've meet who work there are really great and supportive (and organized!!) - which makes the overall experience better. also, i'm looking forward meeting gardeners and mentors and just learning more about the Portland community.
i'm also hoping to start another freelance gig sometime this week, but i don't want to jinx it - so i'll just tell you about that later :)
